DNC & Suppression Rules
Block contact for specific people, import suppression files, and understand how DNC differs from company-level rules.
Purpose
DNC is the account-level do-not-contact list. Use it when a specific person should not be contacted again by email or by a supported person profile match.
Use DNC for person-level suppression. Use company rules when the policy applies to everyone at a company or domain.
What DNC blocks
When a prospect matches an active DNC entry, Audienti rejects that person for contact in the account and places them in the existing rejected prospect path.
DNC checks run before company rules, so a person-level suppression wins over a company-level disposition rule.
Supported suppression keys
- Email addresses.
- Supported person profile URLs, including LinkedIn profile URLs.
- Supported citation IDs when your team already uses them as person identifiers.
Prefer the most stable identifier you have. If the suppression came from an email list, import the email address instead of a less precise note.
Add one entry
- Open Account Settings, then choose DNC.
- Enter one email address, citation ID, or supported person profile URL.
- Save the entry.
If the same suppression key already exists, Audienti keeps the active entry instead of creating a duplicate.
Import a suppression file
Use import when you already have a suppression list from another system or a previous campaign.
- CSV imports use the first column.
- Text imports use one value per line.
- Each row should contain one email address, one supported person profile URL, or one supported citation ID.
audienti dnc import --file dnc.csv
What happens after an entry is added
New prospects are checked when they enter the account and again when matching profile data is written later. Imported or newly added entries can also reject existing matching prospects retroactively.
Removing a DNC entry stops that suppression key from staying active. If a person was already rejected, review that prospect separately before restoring them to an active workflow.
DNC compared with company rules
Use DNC when the rule is about a specific person or identifier. Use company rules when the policy applies to every person at a company, domain, or LinkedIn company page.
Agent contract
- Use: answer person-level suppression questions and distinguish DNC from company-level policy.
- Inputs: account, suppression key, key type, source file, note, and whether matching existing prospects should be reviewed.
- Surfaces: Account Settings DNC, Company Rules, rejected prospect path, and audienti dnc commands.
- Verify: confirm the suppression key is stable, active, deduplicated, and applied before saying contact is blocked.
- Never: use DNC for a broad company policy or restore a previously rejected person just because a DNC entry was removed.
